Separating ranges from ovens allows for a gas/electricity mix that works well
When remodeling your home or building a new home, consider moving the
oven out from underneath the range. Moving the oven can be more
attractive to your kitchen, but it also brings the oven up a few feet,
making it easier to work with and cook in.
"People like having the oven up a little higher," says David Cook of
Mountainland Design. "It's easier to get hot food out of, and it offers
a nice look to the kitchen."
In addition to the practical benefits of raising the oven,
separating the two appliances enables families to have a gas stove with
an electric oven. Electric ovens offer consistent temperatures, but
range cooking is done effectively with natural gas - which is usually
less expensive.
