Low E glass keeps the right things in and out
When ordering windows - whether it's for a new home or a remodel -
consider ordering Low E glass for exterior windows. The specially
treated glass is designed to keep furnace and air conditioning energy
inside while also keeping heat from the sun's rays outside.
"In general, it keeps the stuff that needs to be outside out and the
stuff that needs to be inside in," says Brad Seamons, sales manager for
Jones Paint and Glass of Provo.
Low E glass is especially useful when the house costs more than
$200,000 because the percentage of investment is lower. Low E glass
will add approximately $400 to a normal $3,000 window cost in that size
of home. Besides making a home more energy efficient - and therefore,
more cost efficient - the Low E glass reduces 90 percent of sun-caused
fading in the home.
