Great Ideas for Your Home

Textured throw pillows, over-sized chairs and large windows are just some of the ingredients needed to create a space in your home purposely designed for relaxation.

"Often people will put two chairs facing the room on either side of a window, but maybe the chairs should be facing the window," says Kristen Lamb, owner of DesignIt Boutique. "When you are designing a sitting room, you should create spaces that allow for off-loading stress. When stress is eliminated, it unlocks a person's dreams. By positioning chairs so they look out the window, it can create a very comfortable place where your mind can relax."

Lamb says a sitting room should be a place homeowners can go to contemplate. The area must be a place where you can allow yourself to get lost in thought, to emotionally balance yourself and to unwind.

"It should be a place where you can un-do all the craziness in your life. Everybody needs a place to go to unwind. If you don't have a sitting room in your home, create a place that still allows you to unlock your dreams," says Lamb.
